“Up” was the key word word of the day. At the start of the day we had a small issue with our lazy-jack system on the mast. So my day started with a ride up the foremast. Found a snarled and broken block, made a temporary repair and came back down the mast. But of course, pictures had to be taken first.
We had very few guests sail with us due to the cold, brisk temperatures. On our first sail we had 5 students from DINFOS. The Defense Information School at Fort Meade. They wanted to do a photo journalism essay on the Woodwind at Boat Show.
On our second cruise, Ed from Vienna VA, came sailing. And he had a blast. His comment card, “I want to be adopted so I can crew on the Woodwind.” He has a Catalina 22 and wants to sail it all over. I loved his idea of doing the “Loop” (through Canada, down the Mississippi and then back to around Florida to Annapolis). Fascinating!
