Schooner Woodwind

Thank you for a great sailing season. See you in April 2025!

A little wind, a lot of fun

Today was one of those days, when the wind didn’t really want to say hello to the Schooner Woodwind. We had a great team building program with multi girl scout programs within the MD/VA/DC region.

The girls had a lot of fun enjoying their time aboard a 74-foot Schooner!  We had them sailing the boat, raising sails, and giving commands. They were tacking the sails, looking for the wind and watching for crab pots.

The wind was barely there, but we made the best of it.

For the Wine in the Wind, “Kissed by the Tuscan Sun” we did not have much wind at all. We ended up motoring to the Thomas Point Lighthouse. Everyone enjoyed it very much. Most folks loved that we were able to create our own wind by using the motor while they were enjoying their Sangiovese, Chiantis, and more.

One of the favorite food pairings was a Chainti Reserva with a prosciutto wrapped dried fig stuffed with Gorgonzola Cheese.

As soon as we got back to land, I had to jump off for an interview about the sailing community in Annapolis. QVC, the shopping channel, wanted to interview me for a LIVE broadcast from the Fleet Reserve Club intermingled with the selling of Clark Shoes over the TV.

Here’s some pics of the interview that only lasted 2 short minutes. They asked me about the sailing community, what my favorite thing about sailing was, and one or two more quick questions.
