This morning on Woodwind II we observed a lot of activity on the surface of the Severn River. Fish were breaking all around the boat, with several jumps above the water. We also spied a cow-nose ray splashing on the surface. Feeding time! The life around us brought inspiration to our super relaxing sail. This schooner is good for lowering your blood pressure 🙂
Some local pressure shifted the breeze to the east, and pumped out 17 knots of wind for our sunset sail! Woodwind and Woodwind II left the Severn under full sail. We parted ways as we approached the Thursday evening J boat racing fleet. Woodwind II tacked at the leeward mark toward R4 while Woodwind headed toward Bay Ridge. It was a beautiful sight: dark clouds overhead, a rainbow of spinnakers, and the eastern shore peaking in the golden hour. Beautiful.
Randy and Robert of The Roadside Show entertained us with great music. They came equipped with a guitar, a djembe, a foot tamborine, and a washboard. There are few things better than beam reaching into.the sunset over Hospital Point, with a stoked kid at the helm, while listening to live music.
