A stiff breeze and significant waves at the very edge of Hurricane Ernesto’s influence made for an exhilarating and memorable sail aboard the Woodwind! That afternoon she averaged 9 knots out in the bay; as I had the honor of steering the ship, the wind whipped tears from my eyes as we cut through waves and heeled over hard. Here all three sails are taut with the wind as we approach the bay bridge.
