Author and lifelong Chesapeake Bay sailor David Gendell brings aboard a boatload of stories of the Annapolis waterfront including the colorful personalities and events that make the waters off Annapolis one of the world’s most vibrant sailing grounds.

Author and historian David Gendell is a lifelong Annapolis sailor and frequent speaker aboard the Woodwinds. He is the co-founder of SPINSHEET, the Chesapeake Bay sailing magazine.

He is the author of “Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse: A Chesapeake Bay Icon” (2020), the first and only book devoted to the landmark 1875 Chesapeake Bay lighthouse. He is also the author of “The Last Days of the Schooner America” (August 2024), a non-fiction account of the career and dissolution of the famous schooner for which the America’s Cup is named.

His next book, “Battles at Annapolis: Two Remarkable Football Games in the Army–Navy Rivalry,” will be released in August 2025.
