Dee Dee Strum has served in sr. leadership for Blacks of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation since 2023, a regional nonprofit with 40-year history of advocating for racial and environmental justice across the Chesapeake Bay watershed by building partnerships through strategic alliances. She assumed the position of Interim CEO following the loss of its legendary founder and CEO, Vincent O. Leggett, “Admiral of the Chesapeake,” in late 2024. Ms. Strum continues the nonprofit’s mission to, “research, document, and share the rich history of enslaved Africans and their descendants with many contributions to the region’s maritime and seafood industries.” Dee Dee brings 40+ years of business ownership, project management, grant writing, and nonprofit development to the BoCF. She is the 7th past president of the Natl Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., and a current member of the Anne Arundel County chapter. Ms. Strum started high school at Arundel Sr. High, graduated UMD College Park, lived in the midwest for 37 years, and returned in 2013.
