The singer and songwriter got his start playing a small — mostly covers — coffeehouse gig in 1992\, and was able to maintain the difficult position of being a working musician (and closet songwriter) by simply paying his dues\, working on songs in his spare time\, and playing in coffeehouses and smaller gigs to keep active on the scene and to sharpen his skills. DESCRIPTION:Reduced Ticket Price – not including Bagged Lunch (the order has already been placed with our caterer).  Be sure to bring your own lunch to enjoy aboard.  Lunch must be self contained (boxed or bagged) – no buffets or displays will be allowed aboard. \nParticipate in the Classic Wooden Boat Regatta. The Woodwinds’ have been invited to participate in the race in the “Spirit of Tradition Class”. \nThe course is approximately 5.4 NM and takes place in the Severn River. It is a 3 lap race with pursuit style race. Each boat has a rating\, and by the rating they will get a start time. The pursuit style race challenges the competitors to sail through the other race boats to win the regatta. This will be an amazing trip for photography (hint B&W or sepia tone) of these old\, gorgeous boats. \nThis is going to be a fun\, challenging race! Join the crew! \nDeparts Annapolis Waterfront Hotel Dock at 11:00 am and returns to Annapolis Waterfront Hotel Dock at 2:30pm.  Ticket Price includes soft drinks & bottled water and tax.  Our cash bar includes a selection of Craft Beer\, Wine & Bubbly! \nThe participating boats will be on display on Saturday (other than the Woodwinds).

They believe that the central Maryland Piedmont\, sitting at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains\, has the right mix of rolling hills\, rocky\, low-fertility soils\, regular breezes\, sunshine and rain to be the home of some truly delicious wines — wines that express the land in which they are grown\, enhance the food they accompany\, and most important of all are a joy to drink. \nEstate Winery: “In pursuit of making great wine\, we are fully committed to being an estate winery – every grape for every bottle of wine that we produce is grown on our farm and always has been.  The quality of a wine is determined first and foremost by the quality of the grapes that go into it\, so we take our farming very seriously. (OK\, that is just a nice way of saying that we are control freaks – we admit it).” \nSustainability: “We are also big believers in making use of the resources that we have and taking care of those resources so they will continue to be available down the road.  To that end\, we spend a great deal of time doing what we think of as farming the soil – making sure that the microbial life in the soil has a good mix of air\, water and nutrients so it can create a healthy environment for our vines.” \n\n\nSchooner Woodwind’s Dinner Cruises are a very casual affair. DESCRIPTION:With the release of  “…Beneath Potomac Skies”  –  a 12-song\, full-band collection of moments and memories culled from time spent in Washington DC\, and many other locales – singer/songwriter/saxophonist Ken Francis Wenzel is eager to introduce his own roots-rock\, country jazz-tinged take on love\, learning\, and life in contemporary America. Featuring several guest appearances from some of the DC area’s finest musicians\, “…Beneath Potomac Skies” is the long-awaited follow-up to Ken’s 2010 debut acoustic EP\, “…This is Cross Kentucky”. With a slightly raw voice and sparse acoustic guitar\, that EP showcased the perspective and passions of a well traveled\, yet still searching singer/songwriter – one with a somewhat different story and background than most. \nBorn and raised in Champaign\, Illinois\, Ken studied classical saxophone at the University of Illinois before graduating from UNLV in Las Vegas\, NV with a degree in jazz studies. He spent the next decade playing all over the world: in Las Vegas casinos; on cruise ships in Northern Europe\, Africa\, and Asia; at Universal Studios in Osaka\, Japan; on national tours of Broadway musicals; at festivals including the 2004 Montreux Jazz Festival and 2010 Chicago Blues Festival; and of course\, in countless clubs and small venues. All the while\, he worked as an in-demand freelancer\, playing saxophone with artists both locally and nationally – including\, among many others\, Frankie Avalon\, Ben Vereen\, Bobby Parker\, and Carlos Santana. \nIn 2007\, tiring of the endless grind of freelancing and the narrow branding brought on by being considered “just” a saxophonist\, Ken decided to buy himself an acoustic guitar. DESCRIPTION:An Intimate\, Acoustic Show with JESSE RUBEN aboard the Schooner Woodwind for a concert on a beautiful sailing boat\, including a light delicious brunch and a relaxing sail. \nJesse Ruben is a Philly born singer/songwriter currently living in Brooklyn. His songs have been heard on TV shows such as One Tree Hill\, Degrassi\, Switched at Birth\, and Teen Mom. His most recent single\, “This Is Why I Need You”\, reached the top 10 in 12 different countries\, and has been streamed more than 26 million times. It is currently on rotation on the Sirius/XM Coffeehouse Channel. He recently signed a record deal with Universal Music. \nBeyond his music career\, Ruben is highly active in philanthropic endeavors. He has run the NYC Marathon three times for The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation\, the largest non-profit devoted to spinal cord injuries\, and three times to raise money for Lyme Disease research. He is also the founder of The We Can Project\, an initiative for elementary and middle school students designed to help them discover their passion and give back to their communities. So far\, more than 500\,000 students across the US and Canada have participated. Their primary focus is collecting instrument donations\, repairing and reintroducing them into struggling schools and music therapy programs for veterans. Since their launch\, Music 4 More has donated over 700 instruments to schools and VA hospitals in 13 states. \n \nMusic 4 More accepts instruments in any shape (Currently we are not taking donations of pianos/organs or sheet music).
