Whether performing as a solo acoustic singer-songwriter or with his full band Cross Kentucky\, Ken stays busy\, playing 200+ shows a year across the DC\, Delaware\, Maryland\, and Virginia region\, the eastern seaboard\, the midwest\, and south. \nWith the 2014 release of “…Beneath Potomac Skies” – a 12-song\, full-band collection of moments and memories culled from time spent in Washington DC\, and many other locales – Ken Francis Wenzel introduced his own roots-rock\, country jazz-tinged take on love\, learning\, and life in contemporary America. Featuring several guest appearances from some of the DC area’s finest musicians\, “…Beneath Potomac Skies” is the long-awaited follow-up to Ken’s 2010 debut acoustic EP\, “…This is Cross Kentucky”. SUMMARY:Acoustic Evening Sail with Tyrone Wells
DESCRIPTION:Schooner Woodwind is pleased to announce the return of TYRONE WELLS to perform aboard the boat for an Intimate\, Acoustic Show.  We will cruise to a secluded cove for the performance and then enjoy a sunset sail back to the dock.   This will be Tyrone’s fourth time singing and sailing on the Woodwind. It all started in 2007 when Captain Jen fell in love with his music and asked if they wanted to go sailing when they were in town. A friendship was formed and Tyrone is pumped about playing the acoustic show aboard the Woodwind this fall! Only 35 tickets will be available for this exclusive performance. \nTyrone Wells still sort of chuckles to himself when he thinks about the fact that making music is his “job.”  He has been at this “job” for well over a decade\, and is just now beginning to shake off the discomfort and stress of the days when he had a real job (TJ Maxx – lead of the ladies department in Spokane\, WA).  As far as jobs go\, Tyrone feels like he has won the lottery (in regards to his present “job”).  He loves to create music.  He loves to perform.  He is a husband\, and a father of 3 daughters.   He has four sisters\, so he feels right at home being completely outnumbered by the ladies in his present household (and also when he was the lead of the ladies dept at TJ Maxx). DESCRIPTION:Reduced Ticket Price – not including Bagged Lunch (the order has already been placed with our caterer).  Be sure to bring your own lunch to enjoy aboard.  Lunch must be self contained (boxed or bagged) – no buffets or displays will be allowed aboard. \nParticipate in the Classic Wooden Boat Regatta. The Woodwinds’ have been invited to participate in the race in the “Spirit of Tradition Class”. \nThe course is approximately 5.4 NM and takes place in the Severn River. It is a 3 lap race with pursuit style race. Each boat has a rating\, and by the rating they will get a start time. The pursuit style race challenges the competitors to sail through the other race boats to win the regatta. This will be an amazing trip for photography (hint B&W or sepia tone) of these old\, gorgeous boats. \nThis is going to be a fun\, challenging race! Join the crew! \nDeparts Annapolis Waterfront Hotel Dock at 11:00 am and returns to Annapolis Waterfront Hotel Dock at 2:30pm.  Ticket Price includes soft drinks & bottled water and tax.  Our cash bar includes a selection of Craft Beer\, Wine & Bubbly! \nThe participating boats will be on display on Saturday (other than the Woodwinds).

DESCRIPTION:With the release of  “…Beneath Potomac Skies”  –  a 12-song\, full-band collection of moments and memories culled from time spent in Washington DC\, and many other locales – singer/songwriter/saxophonist Ken Francis Wenzel is eager to introduce his own roots-rock\, country jazz-tinged take on love\, learning\, and life in contemporary America. Featuring several guest appearances from some of the DC area’s finest musicians\, “…Beneath Potomac Skies” is the long-awaited follow-up to Ken’s 2010 debut acoustic EP\, “…This is Cross Kentucky”. With a slightly raw voice and sparse acoustic guitar\, that EP showcased the perspective and passions of a well traveled\, yet still searching singer/songwriter – one with a somewhat different story and background than most. \nBorn and raised in Champaign\, Illinois\, Ken studied classical saxophone at the University of Illinois before graduating from UNLV in Las Vegas\, NV with a degree in jazz studies. He spent the next decade playing all over the world: in Las Vegas casinos; on cruise ships in Northern Europe\, Africa\, and Asia; at Universal Studios in Osaka\, Japan; on national tours of Broadway musicals; at festivals including the 2004 Montreux Jazz Festival and 2010 Chicago Blues Festival; and of course\, in countless clubs and small venues. All the while\, he worked as an in-demand freelancer\, playing saxophone with artists both locally and nationally – including\, among many others\, Frankie Avalon\, Ben Vereen\, Bobby Parker\, and Carlos Santana. \nIn 2007\, tiring of the endless grind of freelancing and the narrow branding brought on by being considered “just” a saxophonist\, Ken decided to buy himself an acoustic guitar.
