SUMMARY:Greenbury Point - Towers To The Past
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row gap=”35″][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Over the course of two world wars and well beyond\, the people of Annapolis played golf next to and boated past America’s most top-secret military communication facility and didn’t have a clue they were living near our nation’s first line of defense. On our sunset sail\, we will unravel the guarded government secrets that have long remained hidden\, and hear about a mysterious place where many battles were fought and history grudgingly preserved. \nPicture: An aerial view of some of the nineteen antenna towers at the Naval Radio Transmitting Facility located on the edge of the Chesapeake Bay near the U. Gareth’s expressive voice cuts straight into the core of his listener’s emotions. The passion in his singing\, along with the relatable lyrics have brought fans along with him on an extraordinary musical journey. Through Asher’s music he brings together a community to make this world a better place. \nAsher\, son of musical parents\, latched onto rock and roll before he turned five. He grew up in the Appalachian foothills of West Georgia\, listening to his parents’ rock and roll band and singing along with the records of great artists like Don Henley\, Jackson Browne\, Bob Seager\, and Bruce Springsteen. The day he picked up a guitar and strummed it\, he knew he’d found his instrument. Passionate about singing\, he wrote his first song at age 15 and was jamming with local performers as soon as they would let him in the clubs to play. He continued working on his songwriting and guitar playing while a student at the local university and soon became the featured entertainer in local venues\, where his passionate voice delivering original lyrics—the kind that makes you want to sit up and listen–quickly developed a loyal audience. \nGareth began his professional musical career in 2002 as the lead singer in the four-piece guitar-driven alternative rock band\, Illbreak. Illbreak’s debut album on Imprint Records\, The Flood was released in 2005. It was around that time that Asher put out his first solo record\, No Reality. In addition to releasing multiple records over the years\, Asher has several collaborations including Get It Right featuring Nappy Roots in 2011\, and One Day featuring Niko Moon in 2014. \nOne of Asher’s greatest collaborations began in 2011 when he crossed paths with Nicki Thrailkill. These kindred spirits then went on to perform as Gareth Asher + the Earthlings and then in 2017 as Ink + Ash. They released Defend the Flame in 2019. Now in 2022\, Gareth has returned to his roots as a solo artist and is anticipating recording a new album very soon. \nAs a touring artist\, Asher has shared the stage with Shawn Mullins\, Glen Phillips (Toad the Wet Sprocket)\, Emerson Hart (Tonic)\, Angie Aparo\, Corey Smith\, Sister Hazel\, Collective Soul\, 3 Doors Down\, Steve Cropper and many more. \nAsk fans what they like best about Gareth Asher and they have a simple reply: the passion in his voice\, and the lyrics they connect with. \n“Gareth has the most soulful voice I have ever heard. The first time I heard his music I just had to stop and take it in. I imagine that is what it was like for those who heard Ray Charles or John Lennon for the first time.” – Holly Firfer (92.9 Dave FM On-Air\, Atlanta & Company) \nIn comments likening Asher’s voice to that of famed tenors such as Jeff Buckley\, Ray Lamontagne\, and even Cat Stevens\, record and session producer Charlie Peacock describes Gareth Asher and the Earthlings as “solid in all the ways we need a decidedly American singer-songwriter to be. What do you get? To begin with there’s loopy grooves\, big wide tambourines\, and a by- the-book folky\, rock mix. All the usual Americana instruments are up front and in the shadows: Acoustic guitars\, B3\, Wurlitzer electric piano\, drums\, bass\, and electrics.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/ZXXsC9ugrMk”][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”19889″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_accordion][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]\nNeed a Place to Stay?\n	\n \n The Schooner Woodwind sails from the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel in downtown Annapolis. We’re a couple of high school sweethearts in our late 30’s that have been on the move for 9 years; creating videos of the ups\, the downs\, our triumphs and our trials. After circumnavigating the North Atlantic in our last boat Serendipity\, (1989 Sabre Targa 34)\, we took on a 2 year complete refit of our new boat Elements of Life – a custom aluminum 37′ monohull. After sailing her to the Arctic\, we sold her in 2020 to begin our newest project of building a 42 ft catamaran. \nhttps://www.youtube.com/@MJSailing \n\n \n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n	\nRyan & Sophie Sailing\n\n	\n \n We are Ryan and Sophie\, an American guy and a French girl who met in Sweden\, on a cold night of March 2015. Shortly thereafter\, we decided to leave our corporate jobs to live a big sailing adventure around the World together. We had no experience of sailing at all before we started\, and had honestly no idea what we were getting ourselves into. Turns out\, with a bit of willpower and work\, anything goes. The dream came true on June 5th of 2018\, when we finally got to set sail from our home port in Stockholm. \nhttps://www.youtube.com/c/ryansophiesailing \n\n \n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n	\nCaptain Boomies\n\n	\n \n Professionally salty for 20+ years\, Captain Boomies is always a bit soggy with a lot of snark. His music has been featured on shows like “Parenthood\,” “Friday Night Lights\,” “Felicity\,” and “Brothers and Sisters.” His career started on Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club\, alongside some of pop culture’s most standout icons like Justin Timberlake\, Britney Spears\, Keri Russell and Ryan Gosling. After a short stint in film and television\, he began his music career in earnest\, writing and recording songs that would quickly earn him the LA Music Award for Best Male Singer/Songwriter. In 2012\, after several albums and EP releases\, Lucca took third place on NBC’s “The Voice\,” earning himself a record deal with coach Adam Levine’s 222 Records. He has toured alongside such artists as Sara Bareilles\, Jonny Lang\, Marc Anthony\, Maroon 5\, Kelly Clarkson\, and Gabe Dixon of Tedeschi Trucks Band. \nAs a public speaker\, Lucca has sewn together his craft of storytelling and musical performance into a form often referred to as a “keynote concert”\, invigorating audiences\, both young and old\, with his personal yet captivating presence. During the pandemic of 2020\, Lucca curated the Mo’Verb Lounge Sessions: a bi-monthly Live stream webcast series with themes and content contributed by his wildly devoted fans. He currently resides in Nashville with his wife\, Rachel\, their kids Liam and Sparrow\, along with their dog Apple. \n\n \n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n	\n\nNeed a Place to Stay?\n	\n \n The Schooner Woodwind sails from the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel in downtown Annapolis. The book covers the history of the lighthouse\, its keepers\, and the ongoing preservation efforts. A portion of the proceeds from sales of the book are donated to the lighthouse preservation effort. David gave Jimmy Buffett a private tour of the lighthouse last fall and Jimmy left with a copy of the book in hand.

\n \nWould you like a copy of David’s book?  You can purchase a copy now and he will bring it with him the day of the sail.  If you’d like\, he will also sign your copy. \n** Cruise departs from and returns to the Annapolis City Marina due to US Powerboat Show ** \n  \n  \n
