SUMMARY:Classic Wooden Boat Regatta
DESCRIPTION:Reduced Ticket Price – not including Bagged Lunch (the order has already been placed with our caterer).  Be sure to bring your own lunch to enjoy aboard.  Lunch must be self contained (boxed or bagged) – no buffets or displays will be allowed aboard. \nParticipate in the National Sailing Hall of Fame Classic Wooden Boat Regatta. They have invited the Woodwinds’ to participate in the race in the “Spirit of Tradition Class”. \nThe course is approximately 5.4 NM and takes place in the Severn River. It is a 3 lap race with pursuit style race. Each boat has a rating\, and by the rating they will get a start time. The pursuit style race challenges the competitors to sail through the other race boats to win the regatta. This will be an amazing trip for photography (hint B&W or sepia tone) of these old\, gorgeous boats. \nThis is going to be a fun\, challenging race! They believe that the central Maryland Piedmont\, sitting at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains\, has the right mix of rolling hills\, rocky\, low-fertility soils\, regular breezes\, sunshine and rain to be the home of some truly delicious wines — wines that express the land in which they are grown\, enhance the food they accompany\, and most important of all are a joy to drink. \nEstate Winery: “In pursuit of making great wine\, we are fully committed to being an estate winery – every grape for every bottle of wine that we produce is grown on our farm and always has been.  The quality of a wine is determined first and foremost by the quality of the grapes that go into it\, so we take our farming very seriously. (OK\, that is just a nice way of saying that we are control freaks – we admit it).” \nSustainability: “We are also big believers in making use of the resources that we have and taking care of those resources so they will continue to be available down the road.  To that end\, we spend a great deal of time doing what we think of as farming the soil – making sure that the microbial life in the soil has a good mix of air\, water and nutrients so it can create a healthy environment for our vines.” \n\n\nSchooner Woodwind’s Dinner Cruises are a very casual affair. SUMMARY:August Wine in the Wind
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a two hour sail around the Chesapeake Bay while sampling wonderful wines from Spain.  The representative from the winery will introduce you to four special wines while we are under sail. The cruise will be a relaxing sail including 3-oz samples of each of the four wines featured. Along with each wine is a delicious\, perfectly paired bite (we call them magnificent morsels) to go with each wine.   Includes a take-home\, boat friendly\, wine glass by Go Vino with the Woodwind’s logo on it. You will be able to raise the sails\, steer the boat or just sit back and relax with your wine and food. Depart Annapolis at 4:00 pm\, return at 6:00 pm. \n  \nAtlantis Txakoli\, Basque: Pronounced Choc-O-lee. These vines grow along the rugged coast of Basque Spain and is a true hot weather wine. Low alcohol\, light bodied and slightly effervescent with flavors of stone fruit.\nPaired with Shrimp and Scallop Ceviche with a Tortilla Chip \nTelmo Rodriguez Basa Rueda: Telmo is on the forefront of Biodynamic farming in Spain. This wine is a blend of Verdejho and Vuira\, fermented in cement tank on its wild yeast. A very expressive wine with crisp ripe fruit.\nPaired with Serrano Ham Topped Crostini \nTelmo Rodriguez Al Muvedre: This is old vine head pruned Monestrel fermented on its wild test in cement tank. This grape went from Spain to France courtesy of the port of Mourvèdre. When it showed up in wooden boxes stamped Mourvèdre the French naturally thought it was the grape name. Thus a new varietal was born.\nPaired with a Grilled Beef Skewer brushed with a Fig Glaze  \nDominum QP\, Rioja: Rioja\, where Tempranillo is king. This is a wine of amazing food versatility. He will play for over an hour and after the performance\, we will set sail on the 74-foot\, classic wooden schooner\, Woodwind and sail back to the dock. Raise the sails\, steer the boat\, sit back\, relax and meet Tony while sailing the Bay. \nRaised in Waterford\, Michigan\, Lucca began singing at age 3; by 12 he was writing and playing in Detroit-area bands. DESCRIPTION:An Intimate\, All Ages Acoustic Show with PAUL PFAU aboard the Schooner Woodwind for a concert on a beautiful sailing boat. \nNashville’s Paul Pfau (rhymes with “wow”) is a modern-day troubadour\, a skilled and eager listener\, with a gift for setting the truths of love\, life and loss to music.  His talent for taking in and re-interpreting life’s narrative was honed in six months of personal silence brought on by a threatening polyp on his vocal chords. \nDuring this period of forced quiet\, Pfau made ends meet by playing guitar in other bands\, and by studying the stories of others.  His musical inspiration was drawn from his parents relationship\, and from the great music of 70s singer-songwriters like James Taylor\, as well as current artists like John Mayer and Dave Matthews.  Upon healing\, Pfau took his talents to Season 8 of The Voice\, where as a member of Team Pharrell\, he was fortunate enough to work with and be mentored by the likes of Lionel Richie and Nate Ruess (fun.\, The Format). \nA maximum of 35 guests will be able to enjoy this really special event! \nWe do sail rain or shine. If the musicians cannot play due to the weather\, but we can still sail- we will refund the performance part of the ticket. \nDeparts from the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel. \nThere are no assigned seats. DESCRIPTION:Announcing a Schooner Woodwind exclusive event!  \nThe influences of being on the water\, enjoying great food and beverage can create great memories.  However\, when you combine those two elements with live music you are now on a journey. \nWe invite you to join us as Captain Jen navigates us out of Annapolis Harbor for a 4 hour adventure you will not soon forget!  You will be aboard a beautiful 74 foot schooner enjoying a selection of gourmet food prepared by Palate Pleasers paired with craft beverages created by Blackwater Distillery in Kent Island. The cruise will start by motoring into a secluded cove for a nice intimate experience with Jay Nash\, and then followed by a interactive\, sailing experience back to downtown Annapolis. \nFor this event Schooner Woodwind is partnering with Buncearoo Presents to feature Jay Nash\, a singer/songwriter/producer from Vermont.  Jay brings the connective power of music to each show which makes every event a unique experience.  His music is like the river that raised him – strong and deep\, with a little bit of lullaby and a big damn current.  For the last decade\, he’s journeyed the US and Europe\, selling over 60\,000 records without ever putting ink on a conventional record deal.  Jay seeks the connection\, the harmony\, between the music he creates and the audience that listens. \nCome sail into a truly memorable occasion where the music\, the water and the experience become one. We sail rain or shine\, unless the captain cancels the cruise due to unsafe conditions. We have a rain canopy for the performer if we need to use it.\nIf the performer cannot perform\, but the boat can sail\, a refund for the musician’s part of the cruise will be refunded. We will still sail.\nAdditional cocktails or beer can be purchased on a cash basis and will range from $6-8.\nSoft soled shoes only. SUMMARY:Classic Wooden Boat Regatta
DESCRIPTION:Participate in the National Sailing Hall of Fame Classic Wooden Boat Regatta. They have invited the Woodwinds’ to participate in the race in the “Spirit of Tradition Class”. \nThe course is approximately 5.4 NM and takes place in the Severn River. It is a 3 lap race with pursuit style race. Each boat has a rating\, and by the rating they will get a start time. The pursuit style race challenges the competitors to sail through the other race boats to win the regatta. This will be an amazing trip for photography (hint B&W or sepia tone) of these old\, gorgeous boats. \nThis is going to be a fun\, challenging race! Join the crew! \nDeparts Annapolis Waterfront Hotel Dock at 11:00 am and returns to Annapolis Waterfront Hotel Dock at 2:30pm.  Ticket Price includes soft drinks and bottled water and tax.  Our cash bar includes a selection of Craft Beer\, Wine & Bubbly! \nReduced Ticket Price – not including Bagged Lunch (the order has already been placed with our caterer).  Be sure to bring your own lunch to enjoy aboard.  Lunch must be self contained (boxed or bagged) – no buffets or displays will be allowed aboard. \n\n\nCheck out the National Sailing Hall of Fame’s coverage from last year here.  The participating boats will be on display on Saturday (other than the Woodwinds).

The proprietors\, the Baker family\, are raising a reputation for crafting wines of intrigue. The property is situated on a rocky plot of ground just south of historic Westminster\, MD\, where patrons enjoy the ambiance of the vineyard and a hands-on winery producing exceptional wines. \n\n\nThe Baker family believes this winery represents the American Dream: strong family\, faith\, sustainability and entrepreneurial spirit. Through teamwork and shared commitment\, they strive to create wines that reflect the terroir and balanced farming practices. Old Westminster Winery is a place to enjoy hand-crafted wines produced in an environmentally conscious way\, build relationships and genuinely connect with the land. \nSchooner Woodwind’s Dinner Cruises are a very casual affair. Courses are served picnic-style and food is presented chilled or at room temperature. You will thoroughly enjoy the event aboard. We really do sail\, so wear soft soled shoes. And please\, feel free to raise the sails\, steer the boat\, or sit back and relax. \nHome Vineyard Chardonnay\nThis Chardonnay\, grown in channery loam soils overlaying a bedrock of greenstone schist\, offers bright aromas and rich complexity. A timely harvest on September 23rd captured brisk acidity from the vineyard. Fermented with native yeast in a mix of 75% stainless steel and 25% French oak. Paired with Jumbo Lump Crab and Micro Green Salad on Belgian Endive Leaf \nRevelry\nA lively red blend produced from Bordeaux varieties grown in the hills of northern Maryland\, this wine offers vibrant aromas and bright character. Crafted with minimal intervention and aged in French oak barrels for up to thirty months.  Paired with Grilled Chicken Breast topped with oven cured tomato-feta-extra virgin olive oil on a bed of orzo with roasted vegetables \nChannery Hill\nA mélange of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon grown in the hills of northern Maryland. This wine is a reflection of the Old Line State – generous\, distinct and intriguing. Crafted with minimal intervention and aged in French oak barrels for eighteen months.   Paired with Charred Garlic-Thyme Rubbed Bistro Beef Skewers\, Trio of Roasted Fingerling Potatoes \, Wild Mushrooms and Green Beans with sea salt.  \nTrio\nA blend of 80% Chardonnay\, 18% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Viognier grown in the hills of northern Maryland. The resulting wine offers bright acidity and natural sweetness. Crafted with minimal intervention and fermented with native yeast in a mix of French oak and stainless steel.  Paired with Spicy Apple Marscarpone Crustada  \n\n \n  \nDeparts from Annapolis at 5:30pm and return at 8:00pm.  Tickets are $109 per adult and include dinner and taxes\, four 5-ounce wine pours\, soda and water.
