DESCRIPTION:With the release of  “…Beneath Potomac Skies”  –  a 12-song\, full-band collection of moments and memories culled from time spent in Washington DC\, and many other locales – singer/songwriter/saxophonist Ken Francis Wenzel is eager to introduce his own roots-rock\, country jazz-tinged take on love\, learning\, and life in contemporary America. Featuring several guest appearances from some of the DC area’s finest musicians\, “…Beneath Potomac Skies” is the long-awaited follow-up to Ken’s 2010 debut acoustic EP\, “…This is Cross Kentucky”. With a slightly raw voice and sparse acoustic guitar\, that EP showcased the perspective and passions of a well traveled\, yet still searching singer/songwriter – one with a somewhat different story and background than most. \nBorn and raised in Champaign\, Illinois\, Ken studied classical saxophone at the University of Illinois before graduating from UNLV in Las Vegas\, NV with a degree in jazz studies. He spent the next decade playing all over the world: in Las Vegas casinos; on cruise ships in Northern Europe\, Africa\, and Asia; at Universal Studios in Osaka\, Japan; on national tours of Broadway musicals; at festivals including the 2004 Montreux Jazz Festival and 2010 Chicago Blues Festival; and of course\, in countless clubs and small venues. All the while\, he worked as an in-demand freelancer\, playing saxophone with artists both locally and nationally – including\, among many others\, Frankie Avalon\, Ben Vereen\, Bobby Parker\, and Carlos Santana. \nIn 2007\, tiring of the endless grind of freelancing and the narrow branding brought on by being considered “just” a saxophonist\, Ken decided to buy himself an acoustic guitar. DESCRIPTION:An Intimate\, Acoustic Show with JESSE RUBEN aboard the Schooner Woodwind for a concert on a beautiful sailing boat\, including a light delicious brunch and a relaxing sail. \nJesse Ruben is a Philly born singer/songwriter currently living in Brooklyn. His songs have been heard on TV shows such as One Tree Hill\, Degrassi\, Switched at Birth\, and Teen Mom. His most recent single\, “This Is Why I Need You”\, reached the top 10 in 12 different countries\, and has been streamed more than 13 million times. It is currently on rotation on the Sirius/XM Coffeehouse Channel. \nBeyond his music career\, Ruben is highly active in philanthropic endeavors. He has run the NYC Marathon three times for The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation\, the largest non-profit devoted to spinal chord injuries\, and twice to raise money and awareness for Lyme Disease research. He is also the founder of The We Can Project\, an initiative for elementary and middle school students designed to help them discover their passion and give back to their communities. So far\, more than 500\,000 students across the US and Canada have participated. To promote the program\, he was recently invited to perform live on The Today Show. \n  \nEnjoy a light brunch as we cruise to a secluded cove\, including Apple Cake\, Bacon & Swiss and Artichoke with Red Pepper Quiche Squares and a refreshing fresh\, fruit salad. Mimosas\, Bloody Marys\, craft beer\, wine and bubbly will be available from our cash bar. \nA maximum of 35 guests will be able to enjoy this really special event! \nWe do sail rain or shine. If the musicians cannot play due to the weather\, but we can still sail- we will refund the performance part of the ticket. \nDeparts from the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel. \nThere are no assigned seats. There are no refunds or exchanges unless the captain cancels the cruise due to unsafe conditions.
