DESCRIPTION:Dirk Schwenk is an award winning singer-songwriter from the great state of Maryland. His formal training includes years of clarinet and symphonic band\, but he found rock and roll as a late-addition bass player in the High School talent show\, and never went back. He has been singing\, playing guitar and songwriting ever since\, and has played for crowds at many of Maryland’s best venues\, including the Rams Head on Stage\, the Recher Theater\, Rams Head Live\, The 8×10 and Annapolis’ The Whiskey.  Set lists start with great original music but could include everything from Johnny Cash to Jack Johnson to the Ramones.   Great songs; drinking songs with a Country edge; and a good time while we are here on earth.  For Woodwind Cruises\, you can count a few good old sailing songs as well. \nThis event will be a return to Dirk’s roots: he was married aboard the Woodwind in August\, 1995.

DESCRIPTION:Dirk Schwenk is an award winning singer-songwriter from the great state of Maryland. His formal training includes years of clarinet and symphonic band\, but he found rock and roll as a late-addition bass player in the High School talent show\, and never went back. He has been singing\, playing guitar and songwriting ever since\, and has played for crowds at many of Maryland’s best venues\, including the Rams Head on Stage\, the Recher Theater\, Rams Head Live\, The 8×10 and Annapolis’ The Whiskey.  Set lists start with great original music but could include everything from Johnny Cash to Jack Johnson to the Ramones.   Great songs; drinking songs with a Country edge; and a good time while we are here on earth.  For Woodwind Cruises\, you can count a few good old sailing songs as well. \nThis event will be a return to Dirk’s roots: he was married aboard the Woodwind in August\, 1995.

DESCRIPTION:With the brand -new release of  “…Beneath Potomac Skies”  –  a 12-song\, full-band collection of moments and memories culled from time spent in Washington DC\, and many other locales – singer/songwriter/saxophonist Ken Francis Wenzel is eager to introduce his own roots-rock\, country jazz-tinged take on love\, learning\, and life in contemporary America. Featuring several guest appearances from some of the DC area’s finest musicians\, “…Beneath Potomac Skies” is the long-awaited follow-up to Ken’s 2010 debut acoustic EP\, “…This is Cross Kentucky”. With a slightly raw voice and sparse acoustic guitar\, that EP showcased the perspective and passions of a well traveled\, yet still searching singer/songwriter – one with a somewhat different story and background than most. \nBorn and raised in Champaign\, Illinois\, Ken studied classical saxophone at the University of Illinois before graduating from UNLV in Las Vegas\, NV with a degree in jazz studies. He spent the next decade playing all over the world: in Las Vegas casinos; on cruise ships in Northern Europe\, Africa\, and Asia; at Universal Studios in Osaka\, Japan; on national tours of Broadway musicals; at festivals including the 2004 Montreux Jazz Festival and 2010 Chicago Blues Festival; and of course\, in countless clubs and small venues. All the while\, he worked as an in-demand freelancer\, playing saxophone with artists both locally and nationally – including\, among many others\, Frankie Avalon\, Ben Vereen\, Bobby Parker\, and Carlos Santana. \nIn 2007\, tiring of the endless grind of freelancing and the narrow branding brought on by being considered “just” a saxophonist\, Ken decided to buy himself an acoustic guitar. DESCRIPTION:Throughout her still young career\, ANJ has made her mark on many facets of the music industry\, yet songwriting remains her first love. In January 2014\, she released her third studio album\, “The Giant Unquiet”\, which was funded by her fans who donated $15\,000 on Kickstarter.com. ANJ calls the record (which was co-produced by Grammy Award-Winning Producer Otto D’Agnolo)\, a concept album that explores the “battle between faith and fear in the artist’s mind”. Her two previous releases\, “When Grey Blushes” (2007) and “Coin and a Half Girls” (2004)\, as well as her steadfast touring of much of the east/west coasts\, have helped her created the loyal fan base that made that crowd-funding campaign possible. \nAfter moving out of her apartment and selling all of her belongings in 2013\, ANJ recently launched her first blog\, entitled “SeeSirenGo.Com” which will chronicle her touring adventures on the road\, as she lives full-time in her 19-foot\, Class-B Roadtrek RV. \nANJ has also flexed her muscles in the realm of TV/Film composition. In 2009\, she was signed to a 5-year-contract (as one of the youngest composers to the company) to write music for several day-time talk shows\, and has since had many instrumental pieces featured on the “OWN Network”. In 2008\, her music also was licensed to Q. Music Collective for use on the CW network. \nOver the past 5 years\, ANJ has also won several songwriting competitions. She was the grand-prize in the John Legend “Be Legendary” Contest\, the winner of the “Rising Star” Open Mic at the World Cafe in Philadelphia\, and a finalist in both the “Independent World Music Series” Contest and the “VH1 Song of the Year” Contest. ANJ’s song “Former Stranger” was also licensed by AUR records for a compilation CD alongside Amy Winehouse\, which was released in Europe and South Korea. Lastly\, ANJ was chosen as a featured artist by A&R company “TAXI” in a full-page ad that is now running in several national magazines including Acoustic Guitar\, American Songwriter\, Recording Magazine\, and more. \n\n\n“Take away the sunlight at the end of the day and we are all left in shadow. SUMMARY:Sunset Sail with Dirk Schwenk
DESCRIPTION:Dirk Schwenk is an award winning singer-songwriter from the great state of Maryland.  His formal training includes years of clarinet and symphonic band\, but he found rock and roll as a late-addition bass player in the High School talent show\, and never went back.  He has been singing\, playing guitar and songwriting ever since\, and has played for crowds at many of Maryland’s best rock venues\, including the Recher Theater\, Rams Head Live and of course Annapolis’ own The Whiskey.  Set lists start with great original music but include everything from Johnny Cash to Jimmy Buffet and the Ramones.  Just as long as its a great song (and maybe even better a drinking song with a Country edge) and we’re having as good a time as we can with our time on earth.  This event will be a return to Dirk’s roots: he was married aboard the Woodwind in August\, 1995.

DESCRIPTION:Victoria Vox has taken the artful sound of the ukulele into eclectic new directions. Her music ranges from upbeat and clever to honest and moving\, while incorporating her signature “mouth trumpet” and occasionally singing in French. Her whimsical songwriting uses a unique palette of sounds and beats that delight audiences of all ages. \nHer songs have been featured on NPR\, television and in independent films. In 2009\, Vox was invited to be an Artist in Residence (AIR) at the Strathmore Performing Arts Center (Bethesda\, MD)\, and has since continued to support the new AIRS. Vox is also multi-award winning songwriter. She received First Place for her French tune\, ‘C’est Noyé’ and Runner up for the 40′s-esque “My Darlin’ Beau” in the International Acoustic Music Awards. Vox has won six Wammies (Washington Area Music Awards): Contemporary Folk Vocalist (’09\, ’11 & ’12)\, Album of the Year (’10 & ’11)\, and Fan Favorite (’10)\, as well as the “Vox Pop” Award with her album\, Exact Change\, in the 10th Annual Independent Music Awards. DESCRIPTION:Mike Lange is a piano player/singer/songwriter/bandleader who has played thousands of gigs in the mid-Atlantic and a handful overseas during the past two decades. Over the years he has performed with many of the top bands in the Baltimore/Washington area both as a bandleader\, member\, and as a highly sought after freelance musician. His original music has been featured on numerous radio stations in the mid-Atlantic area including WRNR\, WPFW\, WTMD\, and WHFS as well as many independent radio stations overseas. SUMMARY:Cancelled - Sunset Sail with Don Shappelle
DESCRIPTION:Event Cancelled due to Private Charter \nDon Shappelle is a singer/songwriter from Wilkes-Barre\, Pennsylvania. He lives on the banks of the Susquehanna River so it is natural that many of his original songs are about this river in subject and spirit. Don also calls Perryville\, Maryland home now. This is where the Susquehanna River flows into and becomes the Chesapeake Bay. After graduating from College Miseracordia in Pennsylvania with a degree in music\, Don’s musical life has taken him to many places including time spent living and touring in Europe. \nDon has also lived and performed in New York City and the Hudson Valley of New York where he collaborated with folk music legend Pete Seeger and others in The Clearwater Organization\,a large group of people dedicated to cleaning the Hudson River. A Don Shappelle original tune “The Tugboat Song” was featured on the album “Broad Ole River” released by Pete Seeger and the Hudson River Sloop Singers. Don’s lifelong commitment and dedication to the environment and nature was truly awakened at that time. \nAfter a trip to the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland many years ago Don fell in love with that region of water and shoreline\, the land of pleasant living as it is traditionally called. His music has reflected this connection ever since. He has sung many times at waterfront gatherings and festivals\, in support of cleaning the bay and its tributaries. \n
