DESCRIPTION:Ship’s Company is a living history organization dedicated to the preservation of the American maritime heritage. Aside from being scurvy-free\, they portray the musical part of nautical life in the 1700s and 1800s. DESCRIPTION:Growing up on Broomes Island\, Maryland\, Deanna Dove (a.k.a.\, Island Girl) is best known for her compositional writing style about her lifelong experiences on the Chesapeake Bay. Dove’s songs include elements of rock\, pop\, alt-country\, blues and gospel\, melding together with her vocal overtones to form a distinctively engaging roots rock style. Dove is a powerful\, multi-talented singer-songwriter\, guitar playing\, beat making\, one woman show. \nDove\, at age 12\, played electric guitar and sang gospel harmonies with the Dove sister’s trio\, a popular Sunday morning radio broadcast. Later\, after fronting for numerous bands all around the Mid-Atlantic region\, Dove decided to concentrate on writing and established herself as a full time solo artist in 2002. \nDove’s debut album\, “Chesapeake” was released in May 2003\, on her Island Girl Records label. “Chesapeake” has sold over 5\,000 albums\, thousands of downloads and solidified Dove as a songwriter.  The track “Rivers Flow to the Sea” was awarded best ballad in the John Lennon contest. Never losing it’s appeal\, the title track “Chesapeake” is continually featured in radio programs\, tv/film\, documentaries and advertisements. Dove performed the track “Lula J” on the 2014 broadcast of Chesapeake Bay Week on Maryland Public Television. \nDove’s musical development continued in January 2007\, when she moved to Nashville and began an intense 7 1/2 week long project\, recording 3 new albums. Dove revisited her childhood roots to record the gospel album\, “Rock of My Roots.” Next\, she showcased her favorite holiday tunes on the album “Merry Christmas\, Dahling!” And finally\, Dove wrote ten new and fun original songs that became yet her 4th album entitled “Peace\, Love & Crabs.” The track\, “You Guys” was featured on the NBC Today Show. He has been singing\, playing guitar and songwriting ever since\, and has played for crowds at many of Maryland’s best venues\, including the Rams Head on Stage\, the Recher Theater\, Rams Head Live\, The 8×10 and Annapolis’ The Whiskey.  Set lists start with great original music but could include everything from Johnny Cash to Jack Johnson to the Ramones.   Great songs; drinking songs with a Country edge; and a good time while we are here on earth.  For Woodwind Cruises\, you can count a few good old sailing songs as well. \nThis event will be a return to Dirk’s roots: he was married aboard the Woodwind in August\, 1995.

DESCRIPTION:Dirk Schwenk is an award winning singer-songwriter from the great state of Maryland. His formal training includes years of clarinet and symphonic band\, but he found rock and roll as a late-addition bass player in the High School talent show\, and never went back. He has been singing\, playing guitar and songwriting ever since\, and has played for crowds at many of Maryland’s best venues\, including the Rams Head on Stage\, the Recher Theater\, Rams Head Live\, The 8×10 and Annapolis’ The Whiskey.  Set lists start with great original music but could include everything from Johnny Cash to Jack Johnson to the Ramones.   Great songs; drinking songs with a Country edge; and a good time while we are here on earth.  For Woodwind Cruises\, you can count a few good old sailing songs as well. \nThis event will be a return to Dirk’s roots: he was married aboard the Woodwind in August\, 1995.

DESCRIPTION:With the brand -new release of  “…Beneath Potomac Skies”  –  a 12-song\, full-band collection of moments and memories culled from time spent in Washington DC\, and many other locales – singer/songwriter/saxophonist Ken Francis Wenzel is eager to introduce his own roots-rock\, country jazz-tinged take on love\, learning\, and life in contemporary America. Featuring several guest appearances from some of the DC area’s finest musicians\, “…Beneath Potomac Skies” is the long-awaited follow-up to Ken’s 2010 debut acoustic EP\, “…This is Cross Kentucky”. With a slightly raw voice and sparse acoustic guitar\, that EP showcased the perspective and passions of a well traveled\, yet still searching singer/songwriter – one with a somewhat different story and background than most. \nBorn and raised in Champaign\, Illinois\, Ken studied classical saxophone at the University of Illinois before graduating from UNLV in Las Vegas\, NV with a degree in jazz studies. He spent the next decade playing all over the world: in Las Vegas casinos; on cruise ships in Northern Europe\, Africa\, and Asia; at Universal Studios in Osaka\, Japan; on national tours of Broadway musicals; at festivals including the 2004 Montreux Jazz Festival and 2010 Chicago Blues Festival; and of course\, in countless clubs and small venues. All the while\, he worked as an in-demand freelancer\, playing saxophone with artists both locally and nationally – including\, among many others\, Frankie Avalon\, Ben Vereen\, Bobby Parker\, and Carlos Santana. \nIn 2007\, tiring of the endless grind of freelancing and the narrow branding brought on by being considered “just” a saxophonist\, Ken decided to buy himself an acoustic guitar.
