He is an environmental photographer\, conservationist\, and storyteller. James’ photography is heavily influenced by the Chesapeake Bay. His photographs highlight the working men and women of the Bay and the environmental issues he champions. James works for the Coastal Conservation Association and has been a volunteer with Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s oyster gardening program since he was a young boy. He is actively involved in the Chesapeake Oyster Alliance and has testified before the Maryland Senate and Atlantic Fisheries Commission on environmental issues. He has prioritized bridging the gap between policy work and waterman with the common goal of maintaining a healthy Chesapeake Bay.\nJames’ boat\, PorkChop\, has given him the opportunity to see things on the bay that many people don’t get the chance to see. He realized early on that you can tell a powerful story through the lens of a camera. Through this literal lens James tells the story of the Chesapeake Bay and her waterways\, the living things beneath her surface\, and the people who work and play on her.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image source=”featured_image” img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row disable_element=”yes”][vc_column][vc_tta_accordion title_tag=”h5″ section_title_tag=”h5″ color=”sky” spacing=”20″ active_section=”36″ no_fill=”true” collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Click on Edit Section to Change Title” tab_id=”Change-title-use-dashes-and-spaces63f7-097e”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_custom_heading text=”About” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]I am text block. SUMMARY:Buffets\, Bands and Beaches - Socializing on the Severn
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row gap=”35″][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Bay Ridge Resort was developed in 1879 as a grand Victorian summer resort with a large frame hotel on the bluff near Tolly Point. Weekends were filled with USNA bands\, lawn games\, live animals\, and frivolilties for those wealthy enough to come by ferry or rail. In the mid-1900s\, Carr and Sparrow beaches were the birthplace of jazz and blues performers such as James Brown\, B.B. King\, Tina Turner and others. Neither exists today but their history gives a stark contrast to the hardship of life on the water during those years.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Details” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text] \n\nHistory Monday Sunset Sails occur every Monday\, May-September 22.\nDifferent topics and speakers vary throughout the season.\nOur bar includes a selection of Craft Beer\, Wine & Bubbly available for purchase!\nTickets go on sale six days prior to the date you want to sail.\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1710338881483{border-top-width: 1px !important;border-right-width: 1px !important;border-bottom-width: 1px !important;border-left-width: 1px !important;padding-top: 25px !important;padding-right: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;padding-left: 25px !important;background-color: #dff2fe !important;border-left-color: #cfebfe !important;border-left-style: initial !important;border-right-color: #cfebfe !important;border-right-style: initial !important;border-top-color: #cfebfe !important;border-top-style: initial !important;border-bottom-color: #cfebfe !important;border-bottom-style: initial !important;border-radius: 5px !important;}” el_class=”beth-box”]Gwen is a semi-retired health policy expert and lawyer who stashes her black suits days of lobbying in Washington\, DC to emerse herself into the history and lifestyle of the Chesapeake Bay. SUMMARY:Battle of the Severn
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row gap=”35″][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Learn the forgotten story of the lost town of “Providence”\, the first Annapolis. The Battle of the Severn was a bloody skirmish fought on March 25\, 1655\, on the Severn River at Horn Point (today’s Eastport). It was an extension of the conflicts surrounding the English Civil War\, pitting the forces of Puritan settlers against the Catholic forces aligned with Lord Baltimore\, then Lord Proprietor of the colony of Maryland. It was the only battle of the English Civil War fought in North America and the last clash of that thirteen-year struggle for religious rule.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Details” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text] \n\nHistory Monday Sunset Sails occur every Monday\, May-September 22.\nDifferent topics and speakers vary throughout the season.\nOur bar includes a selection of Craft Beer\, Wine & Bubbly available for purchase!\nTickets go on sale six days prior to the date you want to sail.\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1709912424301{border-top-width: 1px !important;border-right-width: 1px !important;border-bottom-width: 1px !important;border-left-width: 1px !important;padding-top: 25px !important;padding-right: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;padding-left: 25px !important;background-color: #dff2fe !important;border-left-color: #cfebfe !important;border-left-style: initial !important;border-right-color: #cfebfe !important;border-right-style: initial !important;border-top-color: #cfebfe !important;border-top-style: initial !important;border-bottom-color: #cfebfe !important;border-bottom-style: initial !important;border-radius: 5px !important;}” el_class=”beth-box”]Steve Carr was born and raised in Annapolis\, attended the Naval Academy\, and worked at the Grand Canyon for fifteen years.
