SUMMARY:The Life & Times of Chesapeake Bound (1763–1765)
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row gap=”35″][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=””]Thomas Guay is the author of Chesapeake Bound\, a historical novel set in the uneasy years just before the American Revolution. Set between 1763 and 1765\, the novel follows indentured servants on a perilous voyage to America\, where storms\, sickness\, betrayal\, and even Barbary corsairs test their hopes for a better life—only to find themselves on the brink of revolution. \nTom spent years interpreting colonial history as a guide at the Charles Carroll House in Annapolis and has sailed the Chesapeake Bay for more than two decades. Today he runs Eco-Ed Endeavors\, taking students and adults onto the water to study the Bay’s wildlife and changing ecosystem.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Details” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text css=””] \n\nHistory Monday Sunset Sails occur every Monday\, May-September 21.\nDifferent topics and speakers vary throughout the season.\nOur bar includes a selection of Craft Beer\, Wine & Bubbly available for purchase!\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1773853472780{border-top-width: 1px !important;border-right-width: 1px !important;border-bottom-width: 1px !important;border-left-width: 1px !important;padding-top: 25px !important;padding-right: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;padding-left: 25px !important;background-color: #dff2fe !important;border-left-style: initial !important;border-right-style: initial !important;border-top-style: initial !important;border-bottom-style: initial !important;border-radius: 5px !important;border-color: #cfebfe !important;}” el_class=”beth-box”]The Life & Times of Chesapeake Bound (1763–1765) \nOn the waters of Annapolis Harbor\, you can almost see tensions rising in the years before the American Revolution. The Stamp Act of 1765 sparked violent mob protests in the city and its harbor\, and in 1774\, the Sons of Liberty again took to the streets to punish a merchant who defied the tea embargo. \nJoin author Thomas Guay aboard the Woodwind to hear the real stories behind Chesapeake Bound\, his historical novel set on the Chesapeake and the perilous Atlantic voyage that shaped it all.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image source=”featured_image” img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row disable_element=”yes”][vc_column][vc_tta_accordion title_tag=”h5″ section_title_tag=”h5″ color=”sky” spacing=”20″ active_section=”36″ no_fill=”true” collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Click on Edit Section to Change Title” tab_id=”Change-title-use-dashes-and-spaces2705-33fa”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_custom_heading text=”About” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]I am text block. Coastal communities from New England to the Chesapeake relied on oysters when crops failed or supply lines faltered\, and the Bay’s bounty in particular allowed settlements like Annapolis and Baltimore to grow into stable ports with access to international trade. Seafood\, especially oysters\, supplemented diets in the colonial and early national periods\, helping communities survive periods of scarcity and rapid population expansion. This reliability made oysters part of the economic foundation that allowed the young republic to establish itself along the Atlantic seaboard\, anchoring early urban development and sustaining labor forces that built the region’s maritime economy.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image source=”featured_image” img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row disable_element=”yes”][vc_column][vc_tta_accordion title_tag=”h5″ section_title_tag=”h5″ color=”sky” spacing=”20″ active_section=”36″ no_fill=”true” collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Click on Edit Section to Change Title” tab_id=”Change-title-use-dashes-and-spaces2738-e4a1″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_custom_heading text=”About” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]I am text block. DESCRIPTION:[vc_row gap=”35″][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=””]Bay Ridge Resort was developed in 1879 as a grand Victorian summer resort with a large frame hotel on the bluff near Tolly Point. Weekends were filled with USNA bands\, lawn games\, live animals\, and frivolilties for those wealthy enough to come by ferry or rail. In the mid-1900s\, Carr and Sparrow beaches were the birthplace of jazz and blues performers such as James Brown\, B.B. King\, Tina Turner and others. SUMMARY:Buffets\, Bands and Beaches - Socializing on the Severn
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row gap=”35″][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Bay Ridge Resort was developed in 1879 as a grand Victorian summer resort with a large frame hotel on the bluff near Tolly Point. His career focused on sediment in the Chesapeake Bay including sources\, transport processes and deposition. He also developed the history\, in geologic terms\, of the Chesapeake estuary over the last ~½ million years. He applied his knowledge to addressing present day issues facing the Port of Baltimore regarding channel sediment dredging and placement of dredged material. As well\, he chaired the EPA – Chesapeake Bay Program Sediment Workgroup\, which developed policies related to sediment as a “pollutant\,” and he participated in the Bay Program Nutrient and Modeling Subcommittees to see those policies integrated into applications.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image source=”featured_image” img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row disable_element=”yes”][vc_column][vc_tta_accordion title_tag=”h5″ section_title_tag=”h5″ color=”sky” spacing=”20″ active_section=”36″ no_fill=”true” collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Click on Edit Section to Change Title” tab_id=”Change-title-use-dashes-and-spacesfc88-8792″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_custom_heading text=”About” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]I am text block.
